Overview
- On Aug. 6, SJPD’s Special Operations Division, Street Crimes Unit and Violent Crimes Enforcement Team served warrants at Grizzly’s, E. Side, JT’s and McKee smoke shops in response to complaints from residents and a city councilmember.
- Officers seized roughly 74 pounds of cannabis products, 40 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, 426 nitrous oxide cylinders, $11,000 in cash and one firearm.
- Five adult males were arrested during the raids, with two booked into Santa Clara County Jail and three issued citations for drug-related offenses.
- Police Chief Paul Joseph, joined by Mayor Matt Mahan, emphasized that illicit drug sales operating under retail fronts will be detected and prosecuted.
- City Code Enforcement will issue administrative citations to business and property owners for selling cannabis without proper licensing as investigations continue.
