Overview
- On July 7 at about 2:25 p.m., SJPD officers responded to a family disturbance at Recife Way and Vargas Drive near Guadalupe Oak Grove Park and encountered a suspect with multiple firearms
- The department said officers discharged their weapons in response to the armed threat
- Police have not confirmed any injuries from the shooting and stated there is no ongoing risk to public safety
- Residents were advised to avoid the area while investigators secure the scene, collect evidence and review video footage
- This incident follows a July 5 confrontation near the San Jose–Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility in which a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officer was dragged by an ATV, fired at the fleeing suspect and sustained non-life-threatening injuries
