• Justin Perez, 33, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
• The victim was identified as 52-year-old San Francisco resident Monica Ziolete Ibarra, who died at a hospital after the collision.
• The crash occurred Sept. 8 around 8 a.m. at Santa Clara and Cahill streets, where Ibarra was riding an e-scooter in a crosswalk.
• Police say a black 2021 Ram pickup fled after the impact; officers later found the truck abandoned and determined it was an unreported stolen vehicle.
• A judge set Perez’s bail at $530,000, detectives obtained arrest and search warrants, and his next court date is Sept. 15; Ibarra’s death is San Jose’s 24th traffic fatality of 2025.
