San Jose Opens Youth Hub With 81 Supportive Apartments

The county-led complex pairs housing with on-site services to help foster youth avoid homelessness.

Overview

  • The county-owned facility at 1510 Parkmoor Ave. is operated by Abode Services and serves people ages 15 to 25 exiting foster care.
  • Half of the 81 apartments are reserved for transitional-age foster youth, with the rest for low- to extremely low-income households.
  • The Hub offers integrated supports including mental health care, education resources, job and housing assistance, legal aid, showers and laundry.
  • The prior Hub on King Road will remain available for up to one year during the transition to the new site.
  • Public financing layered county, city and state sources, including a county site purchase ($6 million), Hub construction ($15 million) and $20 million for apartments from Measure A and No Place Like Home.
