Overview

• San Jose officers responded on Nov. 3, 2024 to a report of a 5-month-old who was not breathing, and the infant died at a hospital six days later.
• The Santa Clara County medical examiner determined the cause was multiple traumatic injuries and ruled the death a homicide.
• Homicide detectives identified the father, 27-year-old Julian Taylor of San Jose, as a suspect and obtained a warrant on July 28.
• On Aug. 18, San Jose detectives and a Los Angeles County Sheriff's gang surveillance unit arrested Taylor in Palmdale and transported him to Santa Clara County.
• Taylor was booked on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death and is being held without bail, and police are seeking tips to the homicide unit as the investigation continues.
