San Javier Air Academy Ready for Princess Leonor’s Sept. 1 Arrival, PC‑21 Training

  • Princess Leonor is scheduled to join the AGA in San Javier on 1 September as an alférez alumna in the fourth course of the LXXVIII promotion under Royal Decree 173/2023.
  • Defence Minister Margarita Robles inspected the academy, which is completing the modern PC‑21 trainer fleet and simulator suite that replaced the retired C‑101 aircraft.
  • The initial phase foresees about 50–60 hours in simulators over roughly six weeks, combined with instructor‑accompanied flights, with no fixed date for a first real or solo flight.
  • Academy leaders say she will be one more student among 74 fourth‑year cadets, while the 2025–26 student body totals 483 with women representing 18.1% (74 cadets).
  • The curriculum now includes space‑domain training in the Aula del Espacio, including work on a test satellite and programming of space‑related missions.
