Overview
- Preliminary returns show about 63% backing removal with roughly 21,269 ballots counted, around 250 left to tally, and Engardio has conceded.
- The recall grew from opposition to Engardio’s leadership of Proposition K, which closed the Great Highway to cars and created Sunset Dunes Park.
- Proposition K remains in effect, so Sunset Dunes stays open unless the Board or voters later change policy.
- After certification, the Board will declare the result, Mayor Daniel Lurie will sign off, and he will appoint an interim supervisor to serve until a June 2026 vote.
- Supervisor Connie Chan says she will pursue fixes for west side traffic and access concerns and is prepared to take related questions to voters if needed.
