San Francisco Man Sentenced for $340K Section 8 Fraud

Gregory Finkelson used a Russian national’s identity to claim housing benefits for his $2.4M home, depriving low-income families.

Gregory Finkelson, 64, was sentenced to one year in prison for fraudulently obtaining over $340,000 in Section 8 housing benefits.
Finkelson used the name of a Russian national to purchase his San Francisco home and falsely claimed her as his landlord.
He opened multiple bank accounts, including one in the Russian national’s name, to conceal his misuse of the funds.
The stolen funds were used for personal expenses such as funding his business, paying credit card bills, and a timeshare in Hawaii.
In addition to prison time, Finkelson was ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay $341,455 in restitution.
