Overview

  • On Aug. 14, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office charged 45-year-old Walker Reed Quinn with three counts of vandalism over $400 and one count under $400.
  • The criminal complaint accuses Quinn of four attacks since July, including planting a cone on a Waymo’s sensors on July 4, damaging tires, a mirror and a top sensor on July 29, and stomping on a passenger’s windshield on Aug. 11.
  • Authorities allege Quinn carried out some of the alleged offenses while released on his own recognizance or bail in other felony cases and note he has a prior vandalism conviction.
  • The district attorney’s office will ask a judge to hold Quinn without bail pending trial, citing his risk to public safety.
  • The San Francisco Police Department is calling on the public to submit tips to help the investigation, and Waymo has thanked prosecutors while stressing its commitment to rider safety.
