San Francisco Cannabis Store Closes After Owner Survives Shooting

Martin Olive, owner of the Vapor Room cannabis store in San Francisco, was shot seven times outside his shop on January 27, 2025, by a gunman identified as Cheasarack Chong.
Olive sustained severe injuries, including a fractured jaw, punctured lung, nerve damage, and broken ribs, and spent six nights in the hospital before being released.
The attacker, Chong, was later killed in a standoff with police after barricading himself in his apartment above the store and firing at officers.
The Vapor Room, a decades-old cannabis dispensary, struggled financially before the shooting and will permanently close on February 8, with a farewell event planned.
A GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $120,000 to support Olive's recovery, and he has expressed hope to reopen the business with the help of the community.
