• Deputies responded around 3 p.m. Tuesday to a head-on collision on San Elijo Road in the San Elijo area near San Marcos.
• A westbound white Nissan Sentra reportedly lost control, crossed the center median, and struck an eastbound gray Honda CR-V.
• The Sentra’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene, with her name withheld pending family notification.
• The Honda driver was taken to a hospital for treatment and is cooperating with investigators.
