San Diego Police Seek Help Identifying Fake Rideshare Driver in Pacific Beach Assault

Officials released a detailed suspect description in hopes of identifying additional victims

While pretending to be a driver from a rideshare service, the man drove away with the woman for a few miles and then sexually assaulted her, police said.

  • On March 15 around 1:10 a.m. a woman in Pacific Beach entered what she believed was her requested rideshare and was driven miles away before being sexually assaulted
  • San Diego Police describe the suspect as a mixed-race man in his 30s with brown eyes, shoulder-length curly hair, a mustache, beard and an average-to-muscular build
  • Investigators believe the man was behind the wheel of a four-door 2022 to 2025 Toyota Prius or a similar vehicle during the incident
  • Authorities are probing whether the suspect may have committed similar assaults in 2023 near San Diego State University
