San Diego Police Arrest Suspect in Gaslamp Quarter Fatal Shooting

The 37-year-old suspect faces murder charges after the weekend shooting in a shared hallway of a downtown entertainment building

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department bomb squad was called out to the Torrance Superior Court due to a suspicious package found in the court offices, Torrance Police Department’s Lieutenant Paul Kranke said.

  • Antwan Bluthenthal, 46, was found mortally wounded Sunday around 5:30 p.m. in a third-floor hallway of the 701 Sixth Ave building and died at the scene
  • Bystanders detained 37-year-old Bryan Tyner and directed officers to a handgun they had taken from him before police formally arrested him on suspicion of murder
  • Investigators confirmed both the victim and Tyner had visited the Cielo Rooftop Lounge on the fifth floor shortly before the shooting occurred two floors below
