San Diego CBP Reports Nearly 10,000 Pounds of Narcotics Seized in August

CBP attributes the results to vigilant officers, K-9 teams, inspection technology.

Overview

  • The San Diego Field Office logged 155 seizures valued at about $24 million and recovered more than $340,000 in undeclared currency.
  • On Aug. 27 at the Otay Mesa Cargo Facility, officers found 1,352 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in wooden furniture inside a tractor-trailer, arrested the driver, and canceled his visa.
  • On Aug. 13 at the Calexico East Port of Entry, a K-9 alert led officers to 241 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a commercial bus gas tank, resulting in the driver’s arrest and visa cancellation.
  • On Aug. 28 at the Tecate Port of Entry, officers intercepted 556 pounds of methamphetamine stashed in barrels of jalapeño paste and canceled the tractor-trailer driver’s visa.
  • On Aug. 19 at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, a K-9 alert and scan of a Jeep SUV uncovered about 120 pounds of heroin and methamphetamine concealed in the roof, leading to the driver’s arrest.
