Overview

  • City crews have started installing around 400 new curb signs downtown to alert drivers to the upcoming special-event pricing zone.
  • The 200-block special-event zone around Petco Park—bounded by Broadway, State Street, Interstate 5, Harbor Drive and 16th Street—is being finalized by city planners.
  • Meters in the zone will cost $10 per hour starting two hours before events expected to draw over 10,000 attendees and remain in effect for six hours.
  • Citywide parking meter hours will be extended by two hours later this month, with some spots charging until 10 p.m. to reflect increased demand.
  • Revenues from the higher rates—exempting vehicles with disabled placards—must be reinvested in parking and mobility improvements within each zone.
