San Carlos Crowns Virginia Gómez Coronel, Opening Mendoza’s 2026 Vendimia Season

The merged Tradición–Vendimia production opened Mendoza’s 90th-anniversary Vendimia season as a budget-conscious model.

Overview

  • Virginia Milagros Gómez Coronel of Villa San Carlos won the departmental crown with 65 votes, edging Agostina Muriel Berón Gorrido with 61, while María Guadalupe of La Consulta received 59 and was designated ambassador.
  • The reprogrammed opening took place at the Neyú Mapú amphitheater after a weather alert forced a postponement from the prior date.
  • The staged show, titled “Historias con alma de tradición y vendimia,” featured about 250 artists and portrayed generational change in rural life through a family narrative.
  • National Vendimia queen Alejandrina Funes presented the regalia to the new sovereign and outgoing queen Luz Soria placed the crown during the ceremony.
  • San Carlos unified its Fiesta de la Tradición with the departmental Vendimia in a move officials say will save more than 200 million pesos, as provincial culture leader Diego Gareca hailed the kickoff to the path toward the 90th Fiesta Nacional in March.
