Samsung Will Launch Gemini-Powered Galaxy Glasses in November

The audio-first, display-less glasses run Google's Gemini on a paired Galaxy phone and mark Samsung's push into a Meta-dominated market with built-in camera safeguards.

Overview

  • Samsung confirmed Thursday that it will debut its first AI smart glasses in November, a display-free model shown at Google I/O and Galaxy Unpacked earlier this year.
  • The glasses use a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip, include a built-in camera, microphones and speakers, offer up to nine hours of battery life and come with a wireless charging case that can supply multiple extra charges.
  • Google's Gemini will process visual and audio inputs through a connected Galaxy smartphone so the glasses respond by voice through the frame's speakers rather than a visual display.
  • Samsung worked with eyewear partners Gentle Monster and Warby Parker and says the product will show internal and external LED recording indicators and will disable the camera if the external light is blocked.
  • The launch targets a fast-growing AI-glasses market dominated by Meta's display-less models, and it arrives while Korean regulators and others are drafting guidance on camera-equipped wearables and privacy safeguards.
