Samsung Widens Internal One UI 9 Testing as S26 Public Beta Continues

The company is running Android 17 builds across many Galaxy phones, tablets and foldable prototypes with a staged, device‑by‑device rollout that sources say could be tied to upcoming foldable launches but remains unconfirmed.

Overview

  • Reports published June 24–25 show Samsung has expanded internal testing of One UI 9, based on Android 17, to a broad range of devices beyond the Galaxy S26 series.
  • The public beta remains limited to the Galaxy S26 family in selected regions and interested users must register through the Samsung Members app to join testing.
  • Firmware trackers and reports list specific models in development, including S24/S25 line devices, multiple A‑series phones, Tab S11/S12 tablets and unreleased Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 prototypes, though those rollouts are not confirmed by Samsung.
  • One UI 9 is reported to emphasize under‑the‑hood and interface refinements—smoother animations, cleaner layouts and improved readability—and may add selective features such as a Tap to Share file transfer option.
  • At the same time Samsung is rolling out One UI 8.5 and the June 2026 security patch to older and recent models like the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, bringing roughly 45 fixes and meaning users will see parallel maintenance updates while One UI 9 is tested.
