Samsung Wallet Adds Digital Car Keys for Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs Starting in November

Mahindra becomes the first Indian automaker to integrate Samsung’s phone-based access, with support limited to newer Galaxy models at launch.

Overview

  • New BE 6 and XEV 9e units ship from November with Wallet-based lock, unlock and start, while existing eSUVs will receive the feature via phased service-centre software updates.
  • Initial compatibility covers Galaxy Z and S series launched after 2020, and Samsung says A-series support is planned.
  • Keys are secured in Samsung Wallet by Knox, require biometric or PIN verification, and can be remotely locked or erased via Samsung Find if a device is lost or stolen.
  • Communication relies on NFC and UWB depending on phone and vehicle, and Samsung claims NFC can function using residual power even when the phone’s main battery is drained.
  • Mahindra owners have had digital keys through the Me4U app; adding Samsung Wallet brings easier access within Galaxy devices and enables time-limited key sharing.
