Samsung Urges Galaxy Owners to Activate One UI 7 Theft Protection During One UI 8 Beta

Samsung equips Galaxy phones with AI-driven theft protection ahead of its Android 16 upgrade.

One UI 8.0 ist noch nicht fertig, da sickern schon Infos zur nächsten Version durch. Samsung will mit One UI 8.5 deutlich mehr liefern als gedacht.

Overview

  • One UI 7 on Android 15 now offers a comprehensive theft-protection suite and users are being prompted under Settings to enable features like motion detection and offline lock.
  • Theft-protection measures include AI-based movement alerts, automatic network-loss locking, remote phone-number locking, biometric checks at unfamiliar locations, and a 60-minute lockout delay on biometric resets.
  • Samsung has extended the suite from the Galaxy S25 to older models including the Galaxy S24, S23 and S22 lines as well as fifth-generation Fold and Flip devices.
  • Android 16–based One UI 8 is in beta on the Galaxy S25 series and will launch with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 featuring a Secure Folder enhancement via Android’s Private Space API.
  • Samsung is planning a One UI 8.5 update following the initial Android 16 rollout and has published device eligibility lists that specify which models will receive the upgrade.
