Samsung Pushes One UI 8 to U.S. Galaxy S24 and 2025 Foldables as One UI 8.5 Testing Surfaces

Leaked 8.5 previews signal a larger visual refresh coming with Galaxy S26 in early 2026.

Overview

  • Verizon is distributing One UI 8 (Android 16) to the Galaxy S24 lineup in the U.S., with builds S921USQU4CYI9 (S24), S926USQU4CYI9 (S24+), and S928USQU4CYI9 (S24 Ultra).
  • Carrier‑locked Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 units in the U.S. are receiving the stable update as firmware F956USQU2CYI7 and F741USQU2CYI6, respectively.
  • One UI 8 brings a cleaner UI, redesigned stock apps such as Gallery, Samsung Internet, and Weather, and updates to existing Galaxy AI features including Now Brief and Audio Eraser.
  • Early One UI 8.5 test builds seen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra show a deeply customizable Quick Panel with resizable tiles and sliders, optional horizontal or vertical controls, free placement of items, and visual tweaks like removing text labels in some app bottom bars.
  • Additional 8.5 leaks point to blurred unread notifications and new clock styles on the lock screen, a revamped Software update screen that prominently displays the One UI version, and an internal S24+ firmware sighting that indicates active testing ahead of an expected launch with the Galaxy S26.
