Overview
- The Lions announced the signing on Saturday and said Paddack passed a physical in South Korea and will join the club soon.
- Samsung will pay Paddack US$473,333 for the remainder of the season and plans to install him in the starting rotation.
- Paddack will take the rotation spot previously occupied by Australian left-hander Jack O'Loughlin, who had been a temporary replacement.
- The 30-year-old right-hander worked 57 innings for the Marlins, Reds and Rangers in 2026 with poor results and owns a 32-43 record and 4.83 ERA in 132 major-league appearances.
- The move gives the Lions an experienced starter for their push at the KBO title and gives Paddack a short-term pay and playing window that could lead to new contracts in Korea, Japan or a return to MLB in 2027.
