Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+

Preinstalled Adobe Photoshop plus seven years of OS and security updates position the tablets as creative and productivity focused devices.

Overview

  • Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ on Wednesday, Sept. 30 and said both go on sale in select markets from October 7 with U.S. starting prices of about $1,399 and $1,199 respectively.
  • The tablets use MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9500 and ship with Android 17 and One UI 9, with the Ultra offering a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and the Plus a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, both at 120Hz and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness.
  • Samsung is bundling productivity and creative software as a key selling point by preloading Adobe Photoshop with a limited free access period and offering trials for apps such as Notability, GoodNotes, LumaFusion, Notion and a Google AI Pro trial.
  • Practical details for buyers include large batteries (11,600mAh Ultra, 10,600mAh Plus) with 45W wired charging, S Pen included but without Bluetooth remote features, IP68 water/dust resistance, microSD support up to 2TB and differing connectivity options (Wi‑Fi 7 on Ultra, Wi‑Fi 6E on Plus).
  • The higher entry prices continue a recent pattern at Samsung and across the industry, and the company is leaning on software partnerships and seven years of updates to justify the premium and to target creators who want a tablet that can replace or supplement a laptop.
