Micro RGB should be an improvement over monitors with regular white LED local dimming, like the BenQ MOBIUZ EX321UX.

Overview

  • The 115-inch Micro RGB TV debuted in South Korea at KRW 44.9 million (about $30 000), marking Samsung’s first commercial use of micro-scale RGB LED backlighting.
  • The display arranges individually controlled red, green and blue micro-LEDs beneath an LCD panel to achieve 100 percent BT.2020 color coverage and finer backlight control than Mini LED.
  • A dedicated Micro RGB AI Engine analyzes each frame in real time to adjust colors, upscale low-resolution content and reduce motion-related distortion.
  • Samsung secured VDE’s “Micro RGB Precision Color” certification for color accuracy and Underwriters Laboratories’ glare-free certification to minimize reflections.
  • Independent analysts note that despite a threefold increase in backlight zones over typical Mini LED TVs, the architecture remains LCD-based with coarser local-dimming control than per-pixel emissive panels.
