Overview
- Samsung set a September 30 deadline earlier this year to end built-in OneDrive sync for the Gallery app.
- A Galaxy Store listing for an updated Gallery Cloud Sync now explicitly names Google Cloud as the backup destination and references a 'Sync with Google' flow tied to Google Photos.
- The Google-backed sync is not yet broadly live and appears to need updates to Gallery Cloud Sync, Samsung Cloud, and possibly the Gallery app or system software before users can enable it.
- Some users have already seen the OneDrive sync option disappear from Gallery and after September 30 photos stored in OneDrive will no longer appear inside Gallery though they can still be accessed from the OneDrive app.
- The move follows other OEMs adding Google Photos integration and means users who want to keep using OneDrive should plan to migrate backups or rely on the OneDrive app to manage existing photos.
