Samsung Expands One UI 8 to Galaxy S24 and 2024 Foldables in the US, With One UI 8.5 Leaks Showing Major UI Changes

Phased carrier releases continue, with internal test builds hinting at a customization-heavy refresh likely tied to next year’s Galaxy S26.

Overview

  • The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are receiving the Android 16-based One UI 8 update in the US through Verizon (builds S921USQU4CYI9, S926USQU4CYI9, S928USQU4CYI9), as devices in Europe also begin picking up the rollout.
  • Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are getting stable One UI 8 in the US on Verizon with firmware F956USQU2CYI7 and F741USQU2CYI6, respectively.
  • Leaked and installed One UI 8.5 test builds reveal a deeply customizable Quick Panel that lets users resize and reposition toggles and widgets, switch slider orientation, and even reduce the panel to a minimal layout.
  • Early 8.5 builds show a visual refresh across core apps such as Gallery and Phone with larger controls and the removal of bottom nav text labels, plus a redesigned Settings experience that surfaces the One UI version prominently in the Software update screen.
  • Lock-screen tweaks in 8.5 include blurred notification backgrounds and new clock styles, with the software still unfinished and widely reported to debut publicly alongside the Galaxy S26 in early 2026.
