Samsung Expands One UI 8 Rollout in US as Leaked 8.5 Build Hints at Bigger Visual Revamp

The Android 16–based release reaches more Galaxy models in the US, with separate leaks suggesting a broader 8.5 redesign that is not yet official.

Overview

  • Carrier-locked Galaxy Z Fold 6 (SM-F956U) and Z Flip 6 (SM-F741U) in the US are receiving the stable One UI 8 update, with firmware versions F956USQU2CYI7 and F741USQU2CYI6.
  • One UI 8 emphasizes a cleaner interface and revamped core apps, including major visual changes in Gallery plus updates to Samsung Internet and Weather.
  • Existing Galaxy AI tools gain refinements in One UI 8, with functionality upgrades noted for Drawing Assist, Now Brief and other features rather than wholly new AI additions.
  • SamMobile tested an unofficial One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra that is buggy and unfinished, and Samsung has not released 8.5 to consumers.
  • The leaked 8.5 firmware showcases deep Quick Panel customization with resizable and movable controls, a redesigned Gallery, bottom-placed search in Settings and My Files, removal of some bottom-nav text labels and a status bar battery display that shifts to a simple percentage.
