Samsung Display Starts Production of Foldable OLED Panels for Apple’s First Foldable iPhone

It is set to supply millions of 7-inch panels a year in time for Apple’s planned autumn 2026 launch.

  • The new production line is nearing completion and will have annual capacity of up to 15 million foldable OLED displays.
  • Apple has placed an initial order for six to eight million foldable iPhones, aligning with its strategy to introduce the device alongside the 2026 iPhone 18 series.
  • Under an exclusive supply agreement, Samsung Display will serve as the sole provider of foldable screens for Apple for at least the first two years of release.
  • The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 7-inch inward-folding display, a 4.5 mm slim profile, a durable hinge mechanism, the A20 chip, Touch ID and a dual rear camera system.
