Overview
- OpenAI and Samsung confirmed in a June 11–12 announcement that ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex will be made available to all Samsung employees in South Korea and to staff in the Device eXperience (DX) division globally.
- The deployment pairs ChatGPT Enterprise with Codex, OpenAI’s coding assistant, to support software development, code review, debugging, automation and non-technical tasks such as marketing, product research and document drafting.
- Samsung says the tools will be implemented inside its existing security and governance frameworks after a 2023 leak prompted a company-wide generative-AI ban, and the company plans to complete global training on the systems by the end of 2026.
- Samsung SDS will act as an OpenAI reseller to manage enterprise deployments and training, and the partnership extends to infrastructure cooperation with Samsung supplying advanced memory semiconductors and exploring custom AI accelerators for OpenAI.
- OpenAI reports strong demand for Codex with more than 5 million weekly users and roughly 800% growth in South Korea since February, a momentum that Samsung expects to translate into faster development, more automation and new internal tools for employees.
