Overview
- Samsung activated the AI-based voice phishing detection in One UI 8 for select Galaxy devices in South Korea on August 7.
- The feature was trained on anonymized recordings supplied by Korea’s National Police Agency and National Institute of Scientific Investigation.
- When dialing or receiving a call from an unknown number, the Phone app shows a “detecting” popup and issues vibration and sound alerts upon flagging “suspected” or confirmed phishing voices.
- All analysis runs locally on the device to protect user data, and any flagged calls are stored in the call history for later review.
- Samsung says it will work with overseas agencies to add language support and expand the feature to other markets in future updates.
