Samsung Broadens One UI 8 Rollout to Galaxy S23 Globally and Mid‑Range Phones

Samsung is accelerating stable updates beyond flagships, with a broader visual refresh planned for a later release.

Overview

  • The stable Android 16–based One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S23 series has gone international, with users confirming downloads in Egypt, France, Germany, Malaysia, Spain, Turkey and more, carrying build S91xBXXU8EYI5 and roughly 2.5–3.5GB packages that include the September 2025 security patch.
  • Galaxy A34 and A54 began receiving stable One UI 8 in South Korea (firmware A346NKSUAEYI7 and A546SKSUCEYI5), with wider regional releases expected next, while reports also cite upgrades landing on budget models such as A15 and A16 and on the Tab S9 series.
  • Samsung added a three‑app multitasking layout for tablets in a 50:25:25 split, first seen on the Tab S11 series and now expanding to Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra, addressing prior layout issues by favoring vertical app views for better compatibility.
  • The Galaxy A26’s One UI 8 rollout expanded from Vietnam to Europe (firmware A266BXXU4BYI2, ~2.3GB), and the Galaxy M16 5G started receiving the update in Korea (firmware A156LKSU6CYIA) ahead of previously published schedules.
  • Leaked internal One UI 8.5 builds show a developing visual refresh with subtle 3D app icons, a fully customizable Quick Panel, compact pill‑style tab bars and bottom‑placed search in stock apps, with early tester notes warning of potential battery impact from heavier icon rendering; the redesign is still in development and is expected to debut with the next Galaxy flagship.
