Samsung Brings USDC Stablecoin Into Galaxy Wallet

It embeds Circle’s USDC in Galaxy devices to test whether stablecoins can reach everyday remittance or payment flows under regulated custody.

Overview

  • Samsung launched the Stablecoin Account for eligible U.S. Galaxy users on Thursday, November 5, 2026, making USDC available inside the Wallet app without a separate crypto app.
  • The feature can reach about 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the U.S. but requires Android 13 or later, a Samsung Account, identity checks, biometric approval, and excludes New York residents.
  • Custody and infrastructure are handled by Bastion as the licensed custodian with Coinbase acting as sub-custodian through Coinbase Prime Vault while transfers settle on the Solana blockchain.
  • Users can buy, hold, send, and receive USDC in-device with no Samsung fee for wallet-to-wallet transfers, credit-card top-ups carry a 4% fee, withdrawals have fees, and new users get a $25 USDC bonus for a first top-up of $50 or more.
  • The Wallet supports payouts to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries for local-currency receipt and Samsung says it will consider in-store and online payments and wider rollouts only after securing local regulatory approval.
