Overview

  • The final 76-km link between Igatpuri (Nashik) and Amane (Thane) will be inaugurated by CM Devendra Fadnavis on June 5 and opened to traffic the same day.
  • Built at a cost of ₹1,182 crore with joint funding from MSRDC and NHAI, the segment includes interchanges at Igatpuri, Kutghar (Shahapur) and Amane.
  • It features a 7.8-km tunnel at Kasara Ghat—the longest road tunnel in India—along with 33 major bridges, 274 minor bridges, 65 flyovers and six tunnels, all designed for speeds up to 150 km/h.
  • The fully operational 701-km expressway traverses 10 districts and 390 villages and is expected to boost connectivity, trade and tourism across Maharashtra.
  • Early land acquisition disputes delayed progress, but preceding phases were inaugurated between December 2022 and March 2024 by leaders including PM Narendra Modi and former CM Eknath Shinde.
