Overview
- Solar equipment has been installed at Karjalad in Buldhana and at the Mehkar interchange in Washim by MSRDC with a private renewable partner through its SPV, Mahasamruddhi Renewable Energy Ltd.
- The first phase totals 5 MW, with 3 MW at Karjalad and 2 MW at Mehkar, and the Mehkar unit began generating electricity on Monday.
- Electricity will be supplied to MSEDCL under the 2022 MSKVY agreement at a reported tariff of Rs 3.05 per unit.
- MSRDC says revenue from solar sales and carbon credits will supplement toll income and support borrowing for future infrastructure projects.
- The 701-km Nagpur–Mumbai corridor has recorded over 2.5 crore vehicle passages since December 2022, and similar solar installations are planned at interchanges on other proposed expressways.
