Samruddhi Expressway Starts Solar Rollout With First Power Online at Mehkar

MSRDC is building a 204 MW corridor-mounted solar project and will sell power under a 2022 state pact to create a new revenue stream.

Overview

  • Solar equipment has been installed at Karjalad in Buldhana and at the Mehkar interchange in Washim by MSRDC with a private renewable partner through its SPV, Mahasamruddhi Renewable Energy Ltd.
  • The first phase totals 5 MW, with 3 MW at Karjalad and 2 MW at Mehkar, and the Mehkar unit began generating electricity on Monday.
  • Electricity will be supplied to MSEDCL under the 2022 MSKVY agreement at a reported tariff of Rs 3.05 per unit.
  • MSRDC says revenue from solar sales and carbon credits will supplement toll income and support borrowing for future infrastructure projects.
  • The 701-km NagpurMumbai corridor has recorded over 2.5 crore vehicle passages since December 2022, and similar solar installations are planned at interchanges on other proposed expressways.
