Overview
- The Sambhal SDM’s office fined Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq ₹1.35 lakh for construction without an approved building plan under Section 9 of the UP (Regulation of Building Operations) Act.
- Authorities accepted a revised building map and regularised the compoundable section after Barq paid ₹5,707, but deemed a 1 m by 14 m extension in the mandated setback area non-compoundable.
- The court directed Barq to demolish the unauthorised setback-area structure within 30 days and warned that bulldozers would be deployed if he fails to comply.
- Barq has contested the demolition order’s delivery and says he has not received any notice or copy of the removal directive from the administration.
