Salvage of Sunken Superyacht Bayesian Set to Begin April 26

The superyacht Bayesian, which sank in August 2024 near Sicily, will be raised from the seabed starting April 26, with the operation expected to conclude by the end of May.
The sinking resulted in seven fatalities, including British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, his daughter Hannah, and Morgan Stanley executive Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy.
Both British and Italian authorities are conducting investigations, with Italian prosecutors focusing on potential crew negligence and manslaughter charges against three crew members.
The UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has stated that the vessel itself is a critical source of evidence, with findings from the salvage operation expected to inform their interim report within four to six weeks.
The tragedy occurred during a celebration of Lynch’s acquittal in a high-profile US fraud case, adding a layer of public and legal scrutiny to the ongoing inquiries.
