In Salvador, Mayor Bruno Reis sanctioned a law authorizing the Bible as a paradidactic resource in municipal and private schools. The Salvador law allows biblical texts to support teaching in areas such as History, Literature, Religious Education, Arts and Philosophy with no compulsory participation. Florianópolis councilors approved PL 19436/2025 in two readings and sent it to Mayor Topazio Neto for possible sanction after votes of 10–3 and then 13–3 with one abstention. The Florianópolis bill permits use in public and private schools and extends authorization to homeschooling, with participation explicitly voluntary for students and teachers. The proposals were authored by João Padilha (PL) in Florianópolis and Kênio Rezende (PRD) in Salvador, who present the Bible’s use as cultural, historical and literary support pending detailed municipal rules.
