Salta Schools Enforce New Protocol Restricting Cellphones and Messaging Groups

Overview

  • Resolution 631 took effect on July 28 in all Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary schools to regulate digital device use under provincial Law 8474.
  • Cellphones are banned in early childhood, allowed in primary from sixth grade only for approved pedagogical activities with written parental consent, and restricted in secondary to institutional plans.
  • Recording, photographing or sharing images, audio or video without participant consent and school authorization is strictly forbidden to protect student privacy and counter grooming risks.
  • Institutional WhatsApp and messaging groups among teachers, students or families are prohibited, with each school required to define and publicize official communication channels.
  • School administrations are finalizing enforcement logistics as the Ministry of Education commits to periodic updates to refine the protocol according to evolving needs.
