Salta Charges 53 Teachers in Fake Credential Scheme

Education officials have opened disciplinary cases that could lead to dismissals.

Overview

  • Prosecutor Ana Inés Salinas Odorisio issued formal imputations to teachers accused of using forged postgraduate certificates to raise merit rankings for appointments.
  • Two women were provisionally detained and charged with falsification, fraud against the public administration and illicit association.
  • An internal audit and UDEC probe found 291 irregular registrations and 286 adulterated records across 292 schools, with 237 teachers under investigation.
  • Certificates were sold via Facebook profiles such as “Cursos Educar” and “Ana Guzmán” for ARS 95,000–360,000, delivered as PDFs with scanned seals and signatures that often carried nonexistent or duplicated registry numbers.
  • The investigation determined that 53 teachers improved their ranking and at least 9 obtained teaching hours with fake documents, as forensic work continues and authorities map an organized operator network spanning the province and Bariloche.
