Salman Rushdie to release memoir recounting attack that blinded him in one eye

Salman Rushdie was stabbed multiple times while on stage preparing to give a lecture in August 2022.
The attack left Rushdie blind in his right eye and with permanent damage to his left hand.
Rushdie's memoir, titled "Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder," will be published April 2023.
His attacker, Hadi Matar, has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and attempted murder.
The memoir recounts Rushdie's experiences in isolation and under security following a 1989 fatwa issued by Iran calling for his death.
