Sallent de Gállego Dedicates Street and Plaque to Guardia Civil Victims on 25th Anniversary

Family-led tributes underscored a civic pledge to keep alive the memory of terrorism victims.

  • In the 25th‑anniversary ceremony, the town inaugurated Calle Irene y José Ángel and unveiled a plaque with their photographs after a memorial Mass and floral offering.

  • Irene Fernández Perera, 32, and José Ángel de Jesús, 22, were killed on August 20, 2000 by a bomb placed under their patrol vehicle.
  • Courts convicted Xabier García Gaztelu “Txapote” as inductor and Asier Arzalluz, Aitor Aguirrebarrena and José Ignacio Guridi as perpetrators, imposing 75‑year prison terms.
  • Aragón TV aired the documentary “Dos vidas. Atentado en Sallent,” and no authorities from the Principado attended, according to the Government Delegation.
