Overview

  • Security teams began installing integrated equipment at Gates 1, 2 and 6 on June 13, with Gates 1 and 2 closed through June 30 and Gate 6 serving as the sole entry point.
  • New-generation X-ray baggage scanners, additional door-frame metal detectors, boom barriers and steel bollards have been deployed, with under-vehicle surveillance systems planned.
  • The measures accelerate existing upgrades mandated by the Delhi High Court’s November 24, 2021 directive for a comprehensive overhaul of court security.
  • The push follows the June 6 killing of under-trial Aman Poddar by fellow inmates, a case that revealed lapses in prisoner segregation and delayed police response.
  • Saket Court’s six gates previously operated with RFID-enabled vehicle access and routine frisking, but control has now been centralized to strengthen oversight.
