Veteran running back Cam Akers earned a one-year contract after a minicamp tryout with the Saints.

  • Following a tryout during mandatory minicamp on June 13, Akers secured the one-year contract by participating in two team practices.
  • Akers will compete for carries behind established backs Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller and rookie Devin Neal.
  • The 26-year-old veteran was a second-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2020 and has since held roles with the Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans.
  • He has totaled 502 career rushing attempts for 2,025 yards and 13 touchdowns, along with 52 receptions for 388 yards and four scores across five NFL seasons.
  • After overcoming a torn Achilles before the 2021 season, Akers returned to contribute to the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI run and posted 104 carries for 444 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games last year.
