Saint James Promotes Hayden Stockton to Head Football Coach

The school turns to a trusted staff veteran to stabilize a program that has cycled through leaders since 2022.

Overview

  • Saint James announced the elevation of strength and conditioning coach Hayden Stockton, with an introduction set for 2:30 p.m. today.
  • Athletic director Larry Ware and head of school Dr. Larry McLemore praised Stockton’s experience, character and standing in the school community.
  • Stockton brings 25 years of coaching experience and played at Alabama from 1992 to 1996 as a member of the 1992 national championship team.
  • He previously served as head coach at West-End Walnut Grove (10-21 from 2009–2011) and Marbury (8-14 in 2021–2022).
  • The move follows a 3-7 season under Ware and makes Stockton the program’s fourth head coach since Jimmy Perry’s 2022 retirement, as other Alabama programs also shuffle coaches with Greg Patterson stepping down at Hueytown and BJ Brooks taking the Glencoe job.
