Overview
- From October 27, customers must use a QR code in the Nectar app to collect and redeem points in Sainsbury’s stores.
- Shoppers need to update the Nectar app to access the new code, with an option to add it to a phone’s digital wallet.
- Android users are told the Google Wallet pass will not update automatically and may need to be added manually via the app.
- Exceptions remain at petrol sites: use the barcode for Pay at Pump at Sainsbury’s and for both collecting and spending at Esso stations.
- Plastic cards still collect via barcode, but spending now requires swiping the magnetic strip, as some customers complain about confusion and accessibility.
