Overview
- From December 18 to 23, most supermarkets and convenience stores will trade from 6am to 11pm.
- On Christmas Eve, supermarkets open 6am to 7pm and convenience stores 6am to 9pm, and all stores close on Christmas Day under the Christmas Day (Trading) Act 2004.
- On Boxing Day, supermarkets operate 9am to 6pm and convenience stores 9am to 9pm, with normal hours resuming December 27 to 30.
- On New Year’s Eve, supermarkets open 10am to 7pm and convenience stores 6am to 9pm, and on New Year’s Day supermarkets run 8am to 8pm and convenience stores 9am to 9pm.
- Sainsbury’s petrol filling stations open 30 minutes before and close 30 minutes after main stores, start an hour later on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and Scotland stores trade 8am to 8pm on January 2.
