Overview

• The Fraser Valley Regional District ordered evacuations from Yale north to Spuzzum Creek Road on both sides of the Fraser River.
• BC Wildfire Service reports Rank 2 fire behavior with a surface burn and a relatively slow, inconsistent flame front.
• The fire, discovered late Aug. 23 at an initial 2–3 hectares, grew to roughly 50 hectares by Sunday and is classified out of control.
• CN Rail closed its local tracks as a precaution, and officials report no other infrastructure is immediately threatened.
• The blaze is highly visible from Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon, and multiple ground and air resources remain engaged.
