SAI Starts 45-Day Karate Camp in Lucknow for 2026 Asian Games Prep

The TAGG-backed initiative preserves transparent selection during the wait for a newly recognised national federation.

Overview

  • The senior national camp runs from November 17 to December 31 at the SAI Regional Centre in Lucknow.
  • A group of 64 is in attendance, comprising 48 core athletes, 12 coaches and 4 support staff.
  • The programme has Rs 1.42 crore in funding under the Assistance to National Sports Federations scheme.
  • SAI’s Organising Committee, formed in July, conducted open senior trials on October 12–14 in Shillong with anti-doping oversight and videography-based evaluation.
  • The camp will help pick athletes for overseas exposure ahead of the Asian Games scheduled for September 19 to October 4, 2026, in Japan, with the committee operating until MYAS recognises an NSF.
