Sahrawi Children Begin Health Checks as Cultural Programs Launch Across Spain

  • Participants are receiving comprehensive health screenings including vaccinations, dental exams and ophthalmological check-ups to address healthcare shortages in the refugee camps.
  • Zaragoza City Council contributed €30,000 from its cooperation budget to support local placements and raise awareness of the Sahrawi cause.
  • Under the Oporrak Bakean initiative, 213 Sahrawi adolescents aged 10 to 12 are hosted by families in Gipuzkoa, Álava and Bizkaia for two-month stays.
  • The children’s summer stays extend until August 25, with additional hosting available for those needing further medical treatment.
