American Sahith Theegala withdrew from the 107th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow due to a neck injury

  • Sahith Theegala, ranked No. 31 in the world, has officially withdrawn from the 2025 PGA Championship because of a recurring neck injury.
  • Theegala previously exited the PGA Truist Championship mid-tournament last week due to the same issue, despite efforts to recover in time for the major.
  • Alex Smalley, a 28-year-old alternate from Greensboro, N.C., has been added to the tournament field in Theegala's place.
  • Smalley will begin play Thursday morning at 7:27 a.m. on the 10th tee, grouped with Max McGreevy and Sepp Straka.
  • Theegala has one PGA Tour victory (2023 Fortinet Championship) and his best major result was a ninth-place finish at the 2023 Masters.
